Cancun Airport

Several car hire companies and other service providers also offer their service. Safety The safety regulations and controls at the airport comply with international standards. At the time of entry a customs form must be filled out and there are a few controls. There are strict import restrictions for plants and foods.  The entrainment is only allowed if there is demand as part of a special diet. The same is true for drugs, which can imported only for your own medical use. Limits exist for money and luxury goods and they have to be declared if they have a high value.

To entry from the USA normally only a valid passport is required . But you get a tourist card (FMT) issued for the duration of your stay and it must be kept with you at all times. An exception to this are paid internships or work-and-travel for which a work visa is required. Transport from the airport to the city The accessibility of the airport is good. Public buses run regularly (more or less every 30 minutes) to the most important city center of Cancun and Playa del Carmen. There is along distance bus to Merida also.

First class buses or VIP fares on long journeys are highly recommended, since they are better equipped and without intermediate stops .
